Sea Turtle

The sea turtle is a beloved part of Tybee Island. Every year starting in May through September/October we are visited by turtles who were born right here on our beach, and as adults they travel back here to Tybee to lay their eggs, and continue the cycle of this little island being home to hundreds of thousands sea turtles throughout time.Every year there are 20 to 40 nest  and they average 70 eggs laid by one female.  It is a wonderful sight to see on an early morning walk, when a turtle has finished laying her eggs and is heading back out to sea, completely entrusting her babies to the care of her island home. 

This design was created by Natalisa for a commission several years ago and continues to be a favorite of many.  She is embellished with wire hearts and swirly designs, along with the bright colors of stained glass in her shell.
