6 months in St. Marys- Strickland Stained Glass

Wow, it has really gone by fast.  We have explored all around St. Marys on our bikes, walking, and  in the car.  Our goal for November is to take the boat out and explore the river  and waterways. We are looking forward to doing a few days of fishing and even getting to drop a the crab pots a few times.

We have almost  completed our work in the new studio.  Dave has to finish taking down the garage doors, and putting up a new dry wall, complete with French doors! We ended up traveling to Waycross,GA  to get the doors. They came from an old bank, so these doors are super heavy, steel  each one weighing in at 120 pounds!  Once we got them home, he has needed the past several weeks to recover.  We are aiming to have everything completed by the end of the year! I have to say we have had a lot of new creative glass works, and it really is great to have such a large sprawling space to work.

Our festival season is in full swing, and we have lots of fun visiting new cities throughout Florida.  Back in August we joined a weekly Farmer's market.  We really missed being a part of a community of  local farmers and artists.  Every Wednesday you can find us at St. Augustine Beach in the parking lot in front of the pier.  We have loved getting to know all the people who faithfully show up to provide a great market experience for the locals and the visitors.

Living in St. Marys is so much more than we ever thought it would be.  We enjoy small town life by the river, and we are making new friends.  We found a church home in Kingsland, called Harbor Worship. We attend a weekly couples home group that we  study and share the Bible all together, and it has been great to have that connection.

The last thing I am excited to share is we are in the process of changing our company name!  It has been a little bittersweet, because we have been Tybee Island Hives since 2009, when we started keeping honeybees.  When we moved into full time with stained glass, we never even considered another name.  We didn't give up our bees we just added and grew.  Through the past five years everywhere we go , we have loved how many folks are familiar with our lil island in the North, lol.  We have heard so many great stories from people, who got engaged or married there, folks who visited every summer growing up, or others who found themselves on the beach road in a weekend getaway and discovered the best kept secret of Georgia.  We are so grateful we got to be ambassadors for our first home as a family.  We thought hard and long about what to call our company now that we are in a new location, and it was really not hard.  We all decided on Strickland Stained Glass!  We are going to be going through the transition in social media pages and at the start of next year we will be legally official.  Thanks for sticking with us!!
